Recognized by a distinguished committee comprising Alexey Ulko, a Culture and Art Consultant from Tashkent, Uzbekistan; Cholpon Turdieva, a Professor at the American University of Central Asia in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan; and Annika Schmeding, a Senior Researcher at the NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies in Amsterdam, Netherlands; Gabdulhakov’s website has been awarded first place.

“This bilingual platform stands as a shining example of accessible knowledge, making it a treasured resource for Central Asian studies enthusiasts,” the committee says about the awardee.

“Plovism” is more than just a website—it is a vibrant community, a treasure trove of knowledge, and a bilingual beacon that shines brightly in the realm of Central Asian studies. From insightful texts and engaging videos to captivating podcasts, “Plovism” has effectively harnessed the power of diverse mediums to enrich the user’s experience and cater to a broad spectrum of preferences.

At its core, “Plovism” embodies the spirit of a virtual chai-khana, a traditional tea house, inviting individuals from all walks of life to gather, reflect, and partake in meaningful conversations about the complexities of Central Asian life and culture. This digital hub serves as a melting pot of ideas, perspectives, and knowledge, fostering an inclusive environment that encourages exploration, dialogue, and discovery.

Rashid Gabdulhakov’s unwavering commitment to advancing knowledge and promoting understanding of Central Asian studies has truly set a gold standard for public outreach. His innovative approach has bridged gaps within the academic community, paving the way for a future where knowledge is accessible, inclusive, and boundlessly enriching.

As we reflect on the Evaluation of Public Outreach Award 2023, it’s not just about the accolades but also about recognizing the importance of outreach in our increasingly interconnected world. With initiatives like “Plovism,” we are reminded that knowledge isn’t just to be hoarded but to be shared, discussed, and celebrated.

For those who haven’t yet delved into the wonders of “Plovism,” the site awaits, promising a journey into the heart of Central Asia. In a world rife with divisions, here’s a platform that genuinely unites. And in the end, isn’t that what true outreach is all about?
