PODCAST ALERT! Join our 'Chat in the Yurt'

There is a major issue: Central Asians and Europeans don't have an informal forum for conversations with each other and about each other. We are here to bring the two regions together through our podcast.

Step into our Yurt and join us for a monthly conversation on Europe-Central Asia developments. In this series of podcasts run by the Europe-Central Asia Monitoring (EUCAM) project of the Centre for European Security Studies (CESS), Andreas Marazis and I (Rashid Gabdulhakov) welcome guests from both regions to discuss exciting new research and the latest developments in Europe and Central Asia. Our guests range from academics to policymakers and from journalists to civil society activists.

What is happening in Europe that Central Asians should know about? What events are unfolding in Central Asia that Europeans should understand? We discuss social trends, political developments, and economic turns while assessing the past and looking ahead to what may unfold. Come on in!

Below is our first talk, featuring Dr Irna Hofman, Research Associate at the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Oxford. Nusha Noziri - gender expert working on women, peace and security with international organizations. And Sevara Khamidova, a specialist in fundraising at the International Debate Education Association (IDEA) Central Asia in Bishkek. Sevara and Nusha are former EUCAM fellows.
